Restaurant Take Over

After visiting Frederick Meijer Gardens a couple of days ago, I decided to go out to eat. I was so craving Mexican food and so found a little restaurant up the street from Meijer, recommended by the very helpful lady at the information desk. El Burrito Loco. Besides the food being wonderful, I was intrigued by the pothos that had taken over the restaurant. I didn’t notice it until I had sat down. How to take a picture of the plant hanging from the ceiling without people thinking I’m weird? Well, I figured they already thought I was a little weird because I was eating alone, but at my age, I don’t care. I’m weird and I know it! So I turned my camera toward the ceiling and took a picture. I wonder if anyone else noticed the plant? Probably not, and if they did, it was only in passing. I thought about it the whole time I was eating; How old is it? How long did it take to grow that far? How awesome is that? This person is as crazy about plants as I am.

I couldn’t see from where the plant originated, but when I went up to pay, it was obvious. It started in the middle of the restaurant and spread out to all 4 corners of the room. I asked about it, of course, and was toldĀ  the pothos (Epipremnum) was 10 years old. Someone loves this plant. I understand them completely.

I have seen a lot of plants in restaurants, but this takes the cake! I love it. On the way out the door, as a man is holding it open for me, I told him I was trying to take a picture, but thank you….
